Netflix Determined to Challenge Hollywood with New Movies, Shows

When Netflix first announced that they would be creating originals series back in 2013, there were a lot of confused reactions. Most of the public was unsure about the concept of an online streaming service producing original content and airing it via the internet. However, both House of Cards and Orange is the New Black were critical and commercial hits for Netflix.

NetflixNow the company is at a point where they want to go full steam ahead with their production of new shows. Existing shows will be getting new seasons, while a whole host of original programming will debut in 2015.

The Netflix financial situation means that they can create up to 20 original series every year. That number includes new and continuing series. Shows such as The Fall, Bloodline, Unbreakable, and DareDevil will be making their way to the small screen in the first half of 2015.

All of these shows are being produced and acted by some of the best television actors that Hollywood has to offer. In addition to new shows, Netflix will welcome back Orange is the New Black and House of Cards for their third seasons.

Along with television shows, 2015 will also be the first time an original movie is released by Netflix. The sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is being produced in a partnership between Netflix and IMAX.

Getting their subscriber numbers up is always a goal for Netflix. They are currently in the range of more than 50 million monthly users, with that number expected to go up in 2015. Some of their latest shows, such as Marco Polo, have made a concentrated effort to target people from European and Asian countries. However, the American themed shows, such as House of Cards, are also worldwide hits.
